On Christmas morning, we had the chance to relax and hang out together! We then spent the rest of the day installing ceiling fans that Travis bought with the Home Depot gift cards he received this year. I think we can officially say that the major projects for the interior of the house are done!
Barrett opened his sorting shapes activities from Mommy
and his cute monkey slippers from Daddy.
Travis gave me the seat covers that I wanted for the back seat of my car - no more ground-in Cheerios!!
I gave Travis a pair of golf lessons at one of the courses in town, something he can't wait to use!
Barrett and I stayed in our pjs all day, watching Daddy work around the house. We were anxiously awaiting the arrival of our cousins and family the next day!
With Daddy in front of the tree
Finally, Carson and Avery arrived!! Barrett loved having his cousins here, although it was exhausting for him to try and keep up with the big kids!
We could hardly get them to sit still for a group picture, so this is the best one we could get.
To compare, here's a group shot from the year before! What a difference!
Avery enjoyed decorating Percy in Barrett's beads
Everyone was anxious to open presents, so after dinner, we tackled the gifts! We let the kids open all their gifts and play a little before bedtime, and then all the grownups opened their presents after the kids went to sleep!
Barrett was already understanding more about what we were doing
and was very eager to help rip open all the packages.
He really enjoyed opening the present from Gran-D that was taller than he was
Carson got a really cool car that allowed him to remove the tires with a play screwdriver. Barrett absolutely loved watching Carson play with it and "helping" him put it together as much as possible.
Playing in his new car from Gran-D!
His feet can hit the floor, but he can't move himself yet. He enjoys having Daddy push him around the house and yard, and I'm sure he'll get the hang of it himself soon!!
Testing out the new lawn mover from Shane and Kelly - an instant hit!!
Enjoying his candy from Granny and Grandpa Traub
We were thrilled to show the family around Destin and tried out some new restaurants with them. Travis took his brother and Grandpa out on a bay fishing trip, and we had some tasty fish for dinner.
We also enjoyed lots of playtime at the house with all of Barrett's fun toys, and when the house got too small, we took the kids out to enjoy some activities around town:
Story time at the library with Mr. Will - here the kids are in a parade around the room
We also enjoyed a trip to the Gulfarium - the Destin Aquarium.
The kids were really excited to peek at the dolphins in their tank when we arrived!
At the sea lion show with Gran-D
Ahhhh, scenic overlooks of the Gulf - reason #8192 that I love Destin!
The kids seemed to enjoy all the animals and excitement at the Aquarium! It was a little chilly, but it wasn't too crowded and the shows were fun, so we labeled it a success!
And, finally, we took everyone to the beach. Again, it was pretty chilly, so we are looking forward to having everyone back in the summer when the weather will be perfect for some fun beach excursions!
It was a very Merry Destin Christmas!!
